The biggest upset of La Liga 2010-11 season already?
FC Barcelona have some of the worlds best soccer players in their current line-up. They are one of only a few teams in Spain to have never dropped out of the top flight of football in their history. Despite this the Catalan giants were defeated at the Nou Camp infront of a stunned home support by Hercules, the newly promoted team in La Liga this season.
Hercules tactics were spot on, and on the national day of Catalonia they defeated the defending champions, an achievement that few other teams will achieve in a La Liga season. Despite Barcelona having so much possession they could not find a way to score against their opponents. Barcelona’s latest signings were included in the starting lineup, Mascherano, Adriano and Villa all won the support of the home crowd as they took to the pitch. With a massive 80% possession in the match it is astounding that try as they did Barcelona could not find the net and with the strike force of Messi, Bojan and Villa it really was a fantastic result for Hercules.
Hercules new signing, Paraguayan international Nelson Valdez scored both goals in what has been described by some as a deserved win for them against Barcelona. The Barcelona fans will be looking for their side to resume normal form once again when Panathinaikos are the visitors at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night in the clubs next European match.
